Tala shows Moana a secret cavern full of ships, revealing her ancestors were voyagers but stopped after Te Fiti’s heart was stolen due to the ocean no longer being safe. She further explains Te Kā is causing the blight and she must seek Maui and the heart to stop it. Three years after restoring the heart, Moana has started to go on her own adventures and gained a little sister named Simea. However, on her latest excursion, she finds a clay jar, with the help of Heihei, proving that there are people out there. She takes her little sister to that cave where Tala showed Moana their history and tells Simea about Tautai Vasa. When asked why their voyaging stopped, Tala explains that it was Maui’s doing, referring to his crime of stealing Te Fiti’s heart, which filled the seas with monsters and demons. Tala reveals that she was there the day the ocean chose Moana and Moana gave her the heart of Te Fiti, and still has it in her possession.
